James and I got engaged in New York on New Years Eve 2015/16. After we had returned home and celebrated our Engagement with family and friends we started to think about making some plans. I work as a Personal Assistant so I love planning things and I couldn’t wait to get started on planning our wedding.
First things first was to set a date. We had both agreed on a Summer wedding and we knew we wanted it to be on a Saturday so we picked the 10th of June 2017.
Next was the venue. Although you can never be too sure with the British weather we risked planning for a sunny summers day and it was important that our venue could reflect that. Lots of outside space for the guests to mingle and a pretty backdrop for our drinks reception were both key. Bartholomew Barn was just perfect. Surrounded by nothing but rolling hills (perfect for photographs) and a beautiful courtyard area to hold our ceremony. As well as the beautiful setting, Bartholomew Barn was also perfect as the owner was completely relaxed about who we used for our caterers, which was great because we had already decided which caterers we wanted to use – Super Event Catering & Marquee Hire Ltd!
We had our heart set on providing a free bar to our guests from start to finish. Many caterers in the Surrey/Sussex area do not provide this service but a lucky google search had led us to Super Event Catering & Marquee Hire Ltd and their drinks package. We could choose from many different options, from purchasing the alcohol ourselves and Super Event Catering & Marquee Hire Ltd staff serve it to Super Event Catering & Marquee Hire Ltd providing it all for us. When we saw that not only did they offer a drinks package but also had a fantastic BBQ menu (our chosen food for the day) and they had won an award at the World BBQ Championships in Tennessee. We were sold!!
Chrystelle at the Super Event Catering & Marquee Hire Ltd office was fantastic from the very start. She was able to give us an early indication of the price per head which really helped when trying to keep to our budget. No request was too much for Chrystelle and the Super Event Catering & Marquee Hire Ltd team. They kept in touch at regular intervals leading up to the wedding. Even with an engagement of over a year, Chrystelle was always at the end of the ‘phone or an email and answered straight away – often putting me at ease when my mind was overthinking things. Super Event Catering & Marquee Hire Ltd really are experts and they lead the way. They have so much experience in catering for weddings of all different shapes and sizes and they had thought of everything.
About 3 months before the wedding we were invited along to the menu tasting. WOW! Although we were set on having a BBQ we still needed to pick our wine from the three packages on offer, decide on the canapes for our drinks reception and, most importantly, pick the desert! We were absolutely blown away by the tasting event. It was set in a marquee with beautifully laid round tables just like a wedding. We were given menus and pens so we could make notes on our favourite food items as we tried them. The canapes were all amazing and it was hard to whittle our choice down to just five. In a way we were relieved that we didn’t have to pick a main course (as were having a BBQ) they were all so fantastic and tasted so delicious. Picking a desert was tricky too – all the choices were great but the triple delight was the winner for us!
About a month before the wedding, Super Event Catering & Marquee Hire Ltd scheduled a telephone call for James and I to run through all the plans for the day with Tony. He was able to make a note of everything we needed, from tablecloths to table name holders and cake knives. He thought of things before I had even said them! That is just how experienced Super Event Catering & Marquee Hire Ltd are at catering for weddings. We finished the call and both felt completely calm and relaxed that our wedding was in very, very capable hands.
The day before the wedding we were greeted at the venue by two Super Event Catering & Marquee Hire Ltd staff, one of those was our team manager for the day. It was brilliant to be able to meet the team manager the day before and run through everything with her. A chance to make sure we were on the same page.
The day itself was perfect in every way and went without a hitch. The staff were dressed smartly and they greeted our guests with big smiles and I have to say, even though James and I had filled our venue to its absolute maximum capacity, which made it a bit of a tight squeeze to reach us and serve us all, they even did that with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was as we had expected it to be – FANTASTIC. We even had guests tell us ‘that was the best burger I have ever had’. The drinks package was so well thought out. There was such a wide range of wine, spirits and soft drinks and nothing ran out!
We really can’t put in to words just how perfect our day was and a major part of that was down to Tony, Chrystelle and all those at Super Event Catering & Marquee Hire Ltd.
