John and I had booked in to view two other locations one Saturday and neither were what we were looking for. We felt a little deflated as we both had always wanted to get married outside with a very ‘Bilbo Baggins‘ birthday’ vibe (we are both basically hobbits). We sat in our car and he typed into his phone ‘outdoor wedding West Sussex’ and the first picture that popped up was this venue. He said ‘that is where we should get married’ I called up Super Event Catering & Marquee Hire Ltd and the wonderful Tony met us an hour later at the venue.
Tony was fantastic from the moment we met him. So funny and charming and answered every single question we had. We knew we always wanted an autumn wedding, but the minute we saw the cascading red vines on the moat wall it was a done deal. We got in the car and reserved the latest date in the year (28th September).
Tony and Chrystelle made everything so easy. Any question we had Chrystelle would answer straight away and with amazing assurance. They worked beautifully with our suppliers too. We never worried about any of it.
For the decorations we decided on lots of moss and candles with pastel dipped asparagus fern. John’s family is Scottish so there were lots of white thistles too. We also had tumbling ivy from the roof of the marquee and the most beautiful pussy willow arch stuffed with moss and Hellebores over the entrance.
The food was fantastic and the drinks flowed all day. The staff were amazing… especially the secret undercover West End waiters my parents had hired to surprise us after the speeches, with the elephant love song medley from Moulin Rouge. Chrystelle had secretly planned it with them and she never once gave it away. It was the most fantastic surprise and everyone got their napkins and danced.
The whole ceremony ran so smoothly, everyone at Super Event Catering & Marquee Hire Ltd knew exactly where we should be and when. We were so happy to actually be legally married outdoors and with such a wonderful surrounding. No one had to travel from one venue to another for ceremony and reception and that made all the difference.
