A marquee reception was something both of us always loved the idea of. We struck gold therefore when Jason’s cousin offered to speak to the owner of the private estate he worked at. When the owner generously said yes to us using her beautiful grounds for a marquee, we were onto the next step of finding the right company to hire a Marquee from. We found Super Event almost instantly online and basically stopped searching for anyone else after going through their website and reading their fantastic (and true) reviews. The biggest draw was that they not only offered a marquee with all the trimmings but also were caterers of a huge variety of food. Good food was at the top of our list! To top it off they were completely flexible about drinks; sorted by them or by us as we liked. As two people who are not fans of organising, this was an absolute blessing for the wedding planning and on the big day!
I emailed Chrystelle and she sent us a wealth of information and options. She was enthusiastic, professional and patient from start to finish. She answered every little query we managed to think of and so quickly! It was great to have her as a single point of contact throughout and she does a truly amazing job. Tony met us at our venue for our site visit and he was just as animated as Chrystelle. He put us and the Manager of the Estate at ease immediately as he clearly has a wealth of experience; he was answering questions we had before we’d even asked them.
The food tasting was great fun and our wish to have delicious food was guaranteed. We had decided to provide our own welcome/dining drinks and then have the cash bar in the evening. Super Event were very helpful in providing numbers for how much we should stock for our number of guests. The marquee was set up days ahead of the big day which allowed us to start decorating early on. We met our Event Manager, Lexi, the day before, when she came to set the tables up and complete final checks. She was a nice calming influence that day. We had a tight schedule for getting the marquee down after the big day and Super Event were superb about this, getting it done with no fuss!
We got married in my childhood church before making the journey to our reception. We were blessed with beautiful June sunshine and the welcome drinks had been set up outside the marquee which was lovely. The canapes went down a storm, served with Pimms, Prosecco and Orange Juice. So many of our guests commented that they never had an empty glass which was down to the brilliant staff moving around them so smoothly. This was great as everyone was outside enjoying the sun, playing the garden games we had set out and enjoying the live music from our friends.
Lexi was a steady presence throughout. She somehow picked up during the welcome drinks that I had not had the pleasure of trying one of the mini beef burger canapes and appeared beside me with a whole tray just for me! She made sure everything flowed with the timings we had organised and everything felt seamless! My Mum was so impressed with her that at the end of the day she gave her one of our centre pieces; a fresh flower display made beautifully by my brother. It was also lovely having all the staff smiling so genuinely throughout.
We had a BBQ for our main followed by the trio of desserts. Everyone complimented the food which was so important to us. A massive favourite was the Portobello mushrooms – melted in your mouth! The desserts; chocolate truffle, lemon posset and warm apple/rhubarb crumble were all divine and looked beautiful! From there we cut the cake, made by my talented Mum, and it was served with our evening buffet; a Cheese Board!
The rest of the celebrating passed in a perfect blur of smiles, laughs and joy!
Super Event were the perfect choice and we would recommend them to anyone! They made planning so easy and the day ran exactly as we had dreamed.
Chrystelle, Tony and Lexi are incredible and clearly cared about making our day perfect. We are so grateful to them and all of the staff; professional, enthusiastic and helpful at every step!
